11229	Confused installations in Ubuntu	raykiddy	team	"I have Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I first installed josm using apt-get.

    # apt-cache search josm
    josm - Editor for OpenStreetMap
josm-l10n - Editor for OpenStreetMap - translation files
    josm-plugins - Plugins for JOSM
    #

But when I ran JOSM recently, it said I should upgrade. I upgraded via the JNLP file.

So, where exactly is the new copy of JOSM installed? The /usr/bin/josm executable that I have launches the old version again. So where is the new executable?

Finally I re-launched via the JNLP file again and this time locked the icon to the Launcher bar, because launching via the JNLP re-downloads a bunch of content.

Can the Linux installation methods be made compatible? It would be good to have some documentation on installing and launching JOSM specifically on Linux system, but there seems to be several ways to do things and these just sit next to each other? Hopefully they do not conflict with each other.
