When you add a new way and don't deselect and then add a tag to a way by clicking on "add tag" in the properties window the tag is added to the way. If you do the same but not by clicking on the button but with the shortcut ALT+A the tag gets added to the last node. You would expect the tag to be applied to the way instead (which is also the highlighted object at the time you press ALT+A). The problem is a conflict with the ALT-button, which serves to start a new way.
