why not let splitting being allowed on nodes not sharing the same way

I can select nodes not sharing the same way and delete them using the D-key. Why not allow this behavior for splitting ways using the P-key?

Fact is when I have nodes on different ways and try to split I get the warning The selected nodes do not share the same way. Do they really need to be on the same way?

Multiple split operations cannot be joined, as split is a not-so-easy task (e.g. multiple ways go though the node). We could allow multiple simple split operations, but this would get soon confusing when complex splits are included. To keep interface better understandable a clean guideline is better than full power.
