#5263 closed defect (fixed)

significant speed reduction since yesterday

Reported by: dieterdreist Owned by: stoecker

Component: Core Version: latest

Description

today it seems that JOSM is quite a bit slower than yesterday (I have to wait some seconds after some clicks in add-mode for JOSM to cope with what I drew).

I've also noted problems since the last upgrade.

JOSM just seems to hang for many (20 plus) seconds on occasions

I guess that's the new autosave feature. JOSM has to wait when layer is being saved to the file which may take a while for big datasets (but it should happen only once in 5 minutes). I will have a look whether it can be optimized (one possibility is create copy of dataset first, but I'm afraid it can lead to OutOfMemory errors).

My report is not based on the autosave feature: if I draw very quick (say tracing forest outlines from aerial imagery ca. 2-3 clicks per second) I have to wait (almost) every 20-30 clicks for 2-5 seconds while JOSM is drawing what I clicked before (after getting used to draw those forests I'm doing it almost blindly)
