cancel on data download from OSM not working

Description

Due to the server failure today I was able to check the "abort data download" from OSM. After the first attempt to connect to the OSM.db was not succesful, I couldn't stop the request (while the countdown was counting) by click on "cancel". Closing the download-message-window (progress bar) was succesfull instead.
