Lost ability to split closed ways

It appears that JOSM has lost the ability to split closed ways. If I create a very simple circular closed, trying to split it at any point gives the error: "The way cannot be split at the selected nodes. (Hint: Select nodes in the middle of the way.)" I get this message regardless of which node is selected. I'm not sure when this happened, but if I had to guess I'd say it was the 0.5 api changeover.

In addition, since this needs to be fixed anyway, perhaps we could have the split way button enabled by default when a closed way is selected? It could just split at the beginning/end node.

It is interesting that you want split-at-endpoint back. We actually removed that because it was quite unintuitive -- i.e. you had a roundabout and wanted to split it in two halves, you selected two nodes, then hit split, and voilà, you had three ways, two of them split at seemingly unpredictable points.

In any case, you can now split circular ways also at their endpoints since r393 (you'll have to wait a bit for the rebuild of josm-latest.jar).
