Line from previous node to the cursor

Description

I thought of a really useful feature to make creating segments a lot easier. My idea is to have a thin line connect the previously created node to where the cursor is so that you can see before placing a new node where a segment joining the two nodes would be. Obviously this would only apply to node creation mode.

Currently, you have to guess where consecutive nodes should be based on the amount the GPS trace (road) curves, then create segments between each node in the line. The nodes might have to be moved slightly, as the segments between them may not match the GPS trace.

This should be activated or deactivated with a button/key combination, as not all consecutively placed nodes are part of the same going to be joined by a segment.

If anyone needs any clarification of what I mean, just ask, as this difficult to describe.

And how about a mode for creating segments from the last node/segment to the nearest GPS point under the cursor, creating also a new node? Combined with the above suggestion, it would make mapping roads a child game.

Replying to frsantos:

Well, I think that is completly unrelated to the OP's suggestion. He suggests only a visible hint of "what would the next segment look like if it is connected to the last node".

I think the toggle button can be avoided if it is only used in the "add node and connect" - mode (where it only makes sense to me ;)

Plus there should be a distance between the pointer and the last node printed on the status bar.

Plus (i have been told that I talk faster than I think ;) I also type this way) some indication that new node will be in line with the previous two. Sometimes you know that a street is straight but nevertheles wand to create some more nodes along it.

starting with r608, a line is now drawn from the last node to where the mouse is. additionally, the angle, heading, and length of that line are displayed in the status bar.
