#3727 closed defect (wontfix)

webkit-image sometimes goes amok on Windows

Reported by: mjulius Owned by: team

Description

For the most part the wmsplugin together with webkit-image work as
expected on my machine under Win XP. But occasionally an instance of
webkit-image seems to get stuck in an indefinite loop or so. This
becomes evident when there is a hole in the Yahoo Sat layer that never
gets filled. Then there is usually an instance of webkit-image
running at 100% CPU forever.

Luckily this situation can easily be rectified by killing that
instance. JOSM then just starts a new one and everything is back to
normal - until next time ...

I often experience crashes of webkit-image. I get some Windows Errormessage about an Error in webkit-image and after that Windows can't make any *new* connection to an internetserver. Even DNS querys will fail. Already established connections before starting WSM (i.e. Radiostreams, Downloads) will continue. I'm using only Yahoo Images.
Killing josm and webkit-image won't help, i'll have to reboot.

Whis was with older tested - 1698? and 19xx. Now with 2255 it's working in a short test but i changed hardware and have a fresh WinXP or it's one of the days when it's ok. The WinXP before was only a few month old and not messy. I'll observe and report back.

Ok, tested enough. Now it's working well and fun again. Don't know if it's because of the newer Version 2255 or the new windows.

The problem here still exists. Once in a while I have to kill a webkit-image instance. Why should it fix itself if nothing has been changed?

There is nothing we can do about this. webkit-image is a very small interface. When the software hangs, then the error is somewhere in Webkit code. Updating to newer Qt version may help.
