OrthogonalizeAction is seriously broken, see test cases in the attachement:

1. way1 - OK
2. way2 - create NPE when 'Q' pressed
3. way3 - creates a strange result when 'Q' is pressed

The test cases included in the attached file pass in r2484. Closing as fixed.
