select multiple does not work as expected

If you're dealing with different ways one on top of the other, the modifiers don't help you. After one way is selected, you currently can't use middle-mouse-button to _add_ another way or node to the selection, if you try so, it will deselect the first selection, even if you hit shift or shift+ctrl.

I don't see why this should be implemented. It makes stuff more complicated and has little use. The only one is actually if one wants to select all elements under the cursor, which is unlikely. The popup dialog states that you can select directly from the list, giving you more control over what to select and even handling the mentioned case easily. I'm against fixing this.

Wait a second… your bug must be older than the new-middle-mouse menu… so please try the newer JOSM versions so my comment actually makes sense :)
