it would be well when the the file-type in the fileopen-dialog is *.osm per default.
German:
Bitte den Dateityp im Dateiauswahl-Dialog auf Dateityp *.osm voreinstellen.

I don't think this is a "better default". I was used to open .GPX files, primarily. OSM Files I download from the server, I don't have them stored locally.
Would be nice if the preferred default could be set in the preferences, or maybe even easier, if JOSM would remember/save the last opened filetype and (re-)use that one as default when the open dialogue is shown again.
