r1454 broke deselecting items by dragging an area with mouse while ctrl is pressed.

Actually I do not understand, what you mean.

You can select things by dragging a rectangle with the mouse left button pressed. when items are selected (ways and/or points) you could deselect some of them, by holding ctrl and doing the click-drag over the items you want to deselect. That behaviour broke in r1454.

Fixed in r1472.
