#2206 closed defect (fixed)

Need alternative pan keystrokes

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: team
Priority: major Component: Core

Cc: stefan@…

Description

JOSM provides a facility for configuring keystrokes for just about everything except panning the map (up/down/left/right).
I find the current setting (ctrl-Arrow) annoying as I've used
this for switching desktops for years and I can't get used to
the temporary setting that I've had to employ to get access
to the JOSM keystrokes. Please, could these be included in the
configuration options.

Many thanks

Bill

The shortcuts actually are configurable (Download something or open a new map to get them registered) and then look at "Map: *".

Settings take effect only after restarting. The effect for me was that… well it didn't work unless it was set to "use default". (even when changing nothing else but unchecking the "use default"). I've no idea what causes this, the shortcuts are registered fine in MapMover.java… Maybe it works if you change the default modifier for the HOTKEY Group… I have really no idea about that shortcut code but maybe I'll accidentally stumble on the solution…

I don't understand 'then look at "Map: *"'.

I meant: Have a look at the keyboard shortcuts page in the preferences. The shortcuts you are looking for all start with "Map:", so you don't have to guess :)

Ahhh! I'm sure they weren't there last time I looked!
Apologies to all concerned.

Do they work for you?

Yes, with a little trial and error I now have satifactory alternatives.
I tried >, shift+>, and eventually shift+. before I could get '>' to act as right pan.
Likewise for the others.
