Description

The download from ​http://xapi.openstreetmap.org/api/0.5/node[place=continent] (also attached to ticket) is not being displayed correctly in JOSM. No nodes are visible and the ruler will display 0 to < 1m even after trying to zoom out.

Steps to reproduce:
# run JOSM
# open said .osm file (Ctrl + o)

Note that it will work correctly if you do the following:
# run JOSM
# create empty layer with Ctrl + n
# open said .osm file (Ctrl + o)

Using JOSM 1365.
