#11670 closed enhancement (duplicate)

Warn on moving objects by over 1km

Reported by: planemad Owned by: team
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: Core Version:
Keywords: template_report Cc:

Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Select a node on a way or a small way
  2. Zoom out and move the object

What is the expected result?

Have a popup confirmation warning "You have moved an object by more than 1km and this is often an error. Really move them?"

What happens instead?

No warning is triggered causing an accidental change

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.

When is moving nodes by a large distance ok?

  • When the node is isolated and not connected to anything else
  • Ways not connected to any other objects, like moving a lake or building

In both cases it is still desirable to have a warning. I an't think of a legitimate reason to move objects by such a large distance except to undo such a change by someone else.
